Hey there!
I’m Travis Dawson — the hands and heart behind Dawson’s DIY.
I didn’t grow up with a fancy workshop or expensive tools. My very first project was a wobbly bookshelf I made with a borrowed hammer, a rusty hand saw, and more determination than skill.
It wasn’t perfect, but it taught me something important: woodworking isn’t about perfection, it’s about progress.
That old bookshelf still stands in my basement as a reminder of where it all began.
Over time, what started as a weekend hobby became a true passion. I’ve built everything from simple birdhouses for my kids to custom furniture for friends.
For me, woodworking is more than just cutting boards and driving nails — it’s about slowing down, focusing on the details, and creating something you can be proud of.
But my love for DIY doesn’t stop at woodworking. Around the house, I’m the guy who fixes what’s broken, builds what’s missing, and figures out clever solutions for everyday problems.
Whether it’s adding new shelves in the kitchen, repairing a squeaky door, or building a deck in the backyard, I love the satisfaction that comes from saying, “I made that.”
Through Dawson’s DIY, I want to share that same feeling with you. My goal is to inspire and guide you — whether you’re just picking up your first tool or already working on advanced projects.
You’ll find tips, step-by-step guides, and ideas to help you build confidence and bring your projects to life.
If you’ve ever wanted to make something with your own two hands, you’re in the right place.
Let’s build, fix, and create together.
All the best,
Travis Dawson
